Madeleine Child
Philip Jarvis
Jim Cooper

Wednesday 14 November - 01 December

Objects in the exhibition examine the metaphorical idea of ‘gold’ or value. “The exhibition is not so much a gold rush and the work has more "flakes" than nuggets, “ said Madeleine Child. “The popcorn started as a battle with my kids about buying coloured popcorn that of course I lost. Then annoyingly, I became fascinated by the form and gorgeousness of the popcorn. This all mixed in with the organic fecundity and forbidden fruit-ness of it, and how political, how big food is now. The saucepans began as part of a group of ‘Things to be Buried With.’ Replicas in ceramic and gold reference these grave goods.”

The exhibition includes popcorn pieces (pictured on the homepage) and saucepans by Child; oversized monopoly counters and banal objects like toothpaste tubes by Philip Jarvis; and a Midas-touch style installation of gold-toned figures, animals, plants, gods and objects by Jim Cooper.
