Marked

Victor Berezovsky

Tuesday 21 June - 09 July

Victor Berezovsky’s exhibition Marked features a series of ten large-scale works on paper. These are also produced as a hand-bound album in a limited edition.
Berezovsky is best known for his visceral images developed from sources such as tattoos and folk art.
Berezovsky has replicated an anatomical images from Artistic Anatomy and with brown ink, painted and inscribed the male figure with a variety of images. “I approach each work with my own histories and memories, often referring to collections of sketches I have made. I bring them into the present through a process of reinterpretation and rework them into a new context” he said. The results are old world-style ‘illustrations’. The figures seem to wear their organs as decoration and the tattoos appear to be visual illustrations of personality or experience.
