Anarchy in Avondale

Octavia Cook

Especially for Anarchy in Avondale, the glamorous connotations of the '& Co' suffix have been replaced by the generic and abrupt 'Cook Brand' label. This is the crass younger sister of the Cook family who's sold the manufacturing rights of the family jewels to a factory in provincial China for mass production. Or perhaps it's the cheap rip-off brand of the couture label that's sold out of car boots in back alleys to tourists who want the look but don't want to pay the price.

Ironically all the jewels in the exhibition are one-off pieces which take days to make and aren't cheap at all but it is still the look that counts! This particular look is guaranteed to attract attention as all revolutions must - some are subversive, some are overt but Octavia recommends none of them be worn at the airport...
